Making Fish - In partnership with Parks Canada (Grades 7–9)
This program uses historic artifacts and copies of archival documents to illustrate the process of salting cod from the catch to the cull. Students head, gut and split (faux) fish as they learn about the credit system used between fishermen and merchants. Discover the challenges that fishing families faced in Newfoundland and Labrador. This program includes a visit to two museum exhibitions: This Place: Our Lives on Land and Sea and Here, We Made a Home.
