“People will not look forward to posterity who never look backward to their ancestors.” Edmund Burke (1729-1797)

This informal workshop will give an insight into the diverse free and commercial genealogy resources to assist you in unearthing your Irish ancestral roots.  The key focus of the workshop will be on the 18th and 19th century Catholic Parish Registers from 1086 parishes in Ireland and Northern Ireland digitised and made freely available by the National Library of Ireland.  Traditional sources including Census records, Births, Marriages and Deaths records are looked at in tandem with new leads including Dog Licence Registers, Court and Prison registers to gain a greater understanding of your Irish roots.

The workshop costs $45 and pre-registration is required.  10% Discount for members.  The cost includes a permanent researcher registration number for The Rooms Provincial Archives and coffee break.

Two sessions are available, 10 am – 12:30 pm & 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm. To register, please contact Visitor Services at 757-8090.
