Vimy Flight: Birth Of A Nation
From Vimy France to the birthplace of Canadian confederation, the Vimy Flight tour is spanning the country from coast to coast, engaging with communities to commemorate Canadian heroes of the past 100 years and celebrate our 150th year of nationhood. The biplane is a replica of a Nieuport 11, French single seater First World War fighter plane from 1917. The biplane was built in 2003 and is named Lucie after the owner, Larry Ricker’s, wife. This plane is part of the “Birth of A Nation" tour.
This was one of the planes flown as part of a commemorative flight over the Vimy Memorial on the hundredth anniversary of the battle - April 9th, 2017.
